Turbos Garrett, through its activity as a turbo manufacturer, is a company known worldwide as one of the largest producers of turbochargers for almost any engine and Turbo3 is an official distributor of Turbos Garrett for Spain.
Garrett manufactures turbos for light duty diesel or petrol vehicles, from 0.6 liter units up to 12 liter engines. Its wide variety of turbos spans over 3,500 models, ranging from those with free flow and wastegate, to innovative turbos with variable nozzle turbine technology and dual-stage systems. We also have them for trucks and off-road equipment, the Garrett product range meets the needs of engines with powers ranging from 60 to 4000 HP.
Why trust Garrett Turbos?
Garrett Turbos are turbos that meet all quality requirements and tests. All their turbochargers are subject to OE quality testing.
Advantages of Garrett Turbos
- Engine durability: In some cases, Garrett turbos exceed the life of the engines with which they are associated.
- Casing Containment: Safety is ensured by ensuring that no part of the compressor wheel penetrates the containment casing during bursts at specific speeds.
- Heat Soakback Test: Garrett Turbos evaluate high temperature resistance by subjecting the turbocharger to temperatures above its maximum operating temperature, preventing oil buildup in the center casing, especially crucial in high-temperature gasoline applications.
- Clinical durability test: This test ensures that Garrett turbos can operate without generating contaminating particles for more than 500 hours, thus demonstrating their exceptional resistance and durability.
- Compressor and turbine performance: Comprehensively map compressor and turbine performance on one of Garrett’s performance gas stands. These test cells are calibrated to strict standards to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout the operating range.
- Vibration Control in Turbos: They make sure to control the vibration levels to guarantee the durability of the product in the turbos.
Garrett turbos over time
The story of Garrett Turbos begins in 1936 when Cliff Garrett founded the company. However, its true relevance was highlighted in 1954 with the combination of Garrett’s T15 turbo and Caterpillar’s D9 crawler. The milestone in turbocharged automobile production came in 1962 with the Oldsmobile Jetfire Turbo Rocket.
In 1967, Deere chose the Garrett T04 turbo for its farm tractors, extending turbo technology to heavy machinery. The 1990s marked the globalization of the turbo with the introduction of VNT technology, used by the Fiat Croma in 1991 and Volkswagen-Audi in 1995.
The influence of Deere tractors drove the widespread adoption of turbochargers in commercial diesel applications. In the 1970s, commercial diesel vehicles adopted more advanced turbos, ushering in the mass-market turbo era.
In competition, Garrett TE06 turbochargers featured prominently in the 1966 Indianapolis 500, followed by Bobby Unser’s 1968 victory with a turbo engine in the Indy 500.
In the 1970s, passenger cars benefited with releases such as the Porsche 911 Turbo and Saab 99, bringing turbo technology to a wider audience. The story continued with improvements in fuel efficiency and emissions, establishing Garrett as a leader in turbochargers.
Today, Garrett turbos are essential to meeting global emissions and fuel efficiency standards, backed by decades of innovation, quality and a strong reputation in the automotive industry.
Counterfeit Turbos
Counterfeit turbos represent unauthorized imitations of well-known brands, such as Garrett. These products usually lack the quality and durability standards of the originals. Made with low-quality materials and less rigorous processes, counterfeit turbos can perform poorly, be prone to failure, and pose risks to vehicle safety.
Opting for authentic turbos from trusted manufacturers ensures quality, durability and technical support, while copies can complicate the performance and integrity of the turbo system.
Garrett Turbos have a useful life four times longer than counterfeit turbos. Although at first glance they look the same, the composition of the materials does not meet the minimum factory standards.
May cause vehicle power loss, causing the vehicle to lose value and worse driving, higher fuel consumption, causing higher current costs and a large increase in fuel costs throughout the life of the vehicle, increased emissions levels, causing higher CO2 and NOx emissions, which could lead to the vehicle being considered unfit for circulation in mandatory technical inspections and conflicts with the engine electronic control unit, taking the vehicles to safe driving mode with power reduction and creating an immediate conflict with the control unit after starting the engine.
The particularity of Garrett Turbos is the quality and originality of the piece. Its great power and efficiency, guaranteed compatibility with the model and type of your vehicle and the low emissions it produces make Garrett Turbos a committed and trustworthy product for your vehicle.
