BorgWarner and Alpine F1 Team will work together
Following the long-standing collaboration between BorgWarner and Renault Group, who have been jointly developing turbochargers and powertrain technologies for 30 years, Alpine F1 Team has relied on the North American turbo brand to develop its electric vehicles.
At the beginning of the year, Alpine already announced that it would concentrate its efforts on the development of purely electric sports cars.
After the partnership confirmation, Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine, stated: “The automotive and F1 industries face very similar challenges in how to optimize each propulsion component for greater distance and power, considering their environmental impact. We can benefit from a shared focus on electri fi cation, hybridization, high-performance batteries, and energy recovery components like MGU-K and MGU-H. ”
Likewise, this association fits perfectly with BorgWarner’s Charging Forward project whose main objective is to accelerate the electrification of vehicles.
On the other hand, the logo of the brand Delphi Technologies (recently acquired by BorgWarner) will appear in the garage of the Formula 1 team, in commercial contents and in the A521 car of certain Grand Prix. It should be remembered that in 2019, Delphi had already introduced an 800 volt inverter with silicon carbide, among other products.
